Who we support

Heart Kids NZ

Heart Kids NZ is a national organisation in New Zealand that provides comprehensive, lifelong support for individuals and families affected by childhood heart conditions. Their mission is to ensure that no family faces the challenges of a heart condition alone.

When a child is diagnosed with a heart condition, it can dramatically impact the entire family. Heart Kids NZ steps in to support families from the moment of diagnosis throughout treatment and beyond. They offer invaluable emotional support, expert knowledge, and practical guidance to families during hospital stays and at home within their communities.

Heart Kids NZ has a dedicated family support team comprising trained professionals who are committed to assisting individuals through every stage of their heart journey. They recognize the diverse challenges families may encounter, such as separation, loneliness, financial strain, and uncertainty about the future. With their taituarā (family support workers) located across New Zealand, Heart Kids NZ ensures that support is readily accessible whenever and wherever families need it the most.

E Tū Tāngata

Tackling Tall Poppy Syndrome.
We have a good reputation. New Zealanders are generally known as: friendly, hardworking and laid back. But live here for a while and you’ll also discover we have a bad habit of criticising one another. This criticism can range from good-natured ribbing amongst friends to brutal slurs towards strangers on social media and everything in between.

Otherwise known as the Tall Poppy Syndrome, this culture of criticism is so entrenched in our society that individuals self-deprecate in order to beat others to the punch (so to speak). We have become our own harshest critic and we live with the erroneous belief that, somehow, your success is a threat to mine.

But just because something is, doesn’t mean it should be.

E Tū Tāngata is an initiative focused on turning our culture of criticism around. Empowering you to build a culture where every person is valued.
